Windows 10是最后一个Windows版本?

在Windows 10推出前几个月,微软宣布Windows 10为最后一个Windows版本。你没听错,Windows 10的确是最后一个Windows了,表示说以后没有所谓的Windows 11, 16或者20了

难道微软不想赚钱了吗?

微软开始以“Windows as a service" (Windows服务)的方式来升级了。一旦你买了Windows 10,你就永远不需要花钱去升级去新的版本。这个升级方式可以在其他操作系统看得到,例如苹果公司的Mac OS X和iOS,以及谷歌的Android。

我们还不知道微软会如何推出以后的升级版本,最有可能的方法就是像Mac OS X的方法一样,10.0去10.1,10.1去10.2,10.2去10.3然后一直下去。差不多像Windows 8升级去Windows 8.1。

Windows 10.0版本的版本花名为Threshold。有人猜测Windows 10.1版本的花名是Redstone,一个来自我的世界的虚幻宝石。

A few months before Windows 10 was released, Microsoft announced something 'big' : Windows 10 will be the last version of Windows. You heard right, Windows 10 is the last Windows that Microsoft will ever release, after that no more Windows 11 or 16 or 20.

But why? Microsoft decided to stop sucking customer's money on a Windows upgrade?

Microsoft will start updating the Windows as a 'service', which means once you purchased Windows 10, you don't need to pay again forever to receive updates. This is commonly seen in other operating systems such as Mac OS X, iOS and Android. They push out major update without the need to pay.

It is unknown how Windows will provide future updates, but a possibility is using the same method as Mac OS X which update from 10.0 to 10.1, 10.2 and so on, just like Windows 8 to Windows 8.1.

Windows version 10.0 is Windows 10, code name as Threshold. It was rumored that the next 10.1 update will be called Redstone, a virtual ore inside the game Minecraft.

2G (第二代,2nd Generation)
这是第二代的行动通讯。这一代传送的是数码讯息。

a) GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) 
这个是比较少人用的行动通讯种类,有人称它为2.5G。

b) EDGE (Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution) [E]
这个比较多人用。EDGE讯息传送率会比之前的快,最高速为1Mb/s。有人称它为2.75G。

3G (第三代,3rd Generation)
这是第三代的行动通讯。这一代的讯息传送速度最低可达到0.2Mb/s。3G的安全性比2G高。3G也用在很多服务,例如全球定位系统 (GPS)和手机电视。

a) HSPA (High-Speed Packet Access) [H]
- 是HSDPA和HSUPA的结晶品。
- 被称为3.5G
- 双载波(Dual-Carrier)版的HSPA可以让用户同时连接去两个通讯塔,加快网络速度。
- 多载波(Multi-Carrier)版的HSPA可以让用户同时连接去多个通讯塔,加快网络速度。
- 升级版的HSPA是HSPA+。

b) HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access)
这是加强版的3G网络下载,双载波(DC-HSDPA)能够让用户同时连接去两个通讯塔,加快网络速度。

c) HSUPA (High-Speed Uplink Packet Access)
这是加强版的3G网络上载,双载波(DC-HSUPA)能够让用户同时连接去两个通讯塔,加快网络速度。

d) HSPA+ (Evolved High-Speed Packet Access) [H+]
这是HSPA的升级版,他的下载速度可达到 ~168Mb/s,上载可达到 ~22Mb/s。这个可以被称为3.75G。

LTE(長期演進技術,Long Term Evolution)
进入4G之前,你应该听过LTE。有些网络公司的LTE属于4G。网络公司很喜欢把"4G"的词加入他们的“LTE”配套里,虽然网速根本不符合4G的标准。因为如此,有人叫它为3.9G或"前4G"。

4G (第四代,4th Generation)
这是第四代的行动通讯。有些网络公司比较喜欢称LTE为4G,虽然有些LTE的速度还没符合4G的标准。正真的4G速度需要达到1Gb/s下载速度给没有移动的用户,或者100Mb/s给在移动的用户。

LTE-A (長期演進技術升級版,Long Term Evolution Advanced)
这个才是正真的4G,下载速度高达1Gb/s。

5G (第五代,5th Generation)
5G计划会在2020年面世。不久之前,5G开发者成功研发1Tb/s的下载速度,这是现在的网速的千多倍!

旧款年代
a) 0G (第零代,0th Generation)
移动数据出现之前,封閉無線電話就是0G。技术例如Push-to-talk (PTT)都是拿来拨点的。这些电话通常连接去汽车上。

b) 1G (第一代,1st Generation)
第一代的都是使用模擬信號(Analog)来传送资料。日本的一家通讯公司Nippon Telegraphy and Telephone (NTT)在1979年推出1G,并成功在5年内将此科技发展到全国。

2G (2nd Generation)
This is the second generation of wireless technology. 2G radio signal are digital.

a) GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) 
This is 2G but implemented with a packet-switched domain in addition to the circuit-switched domain. This mobile generation is dubbed as 2.5G

b) EDGE (Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution) [E]
This is still widely used around the world. EDGE have a better data transmission rates than previous versions of 2G, with maximum speed of 1 Mb/s. EDGE is dubbed as 2.75G

3G (3rd Generation) [3G]
This is the third generation of wireless technology. The minimum speed can be achieved through 3G is about 0.2Mb/s. 3G networks offer a better security than 2G. 3G is also used in variety of services like GPS and Mobile TV.

a) HSPA (High-Speed Packet Access) [H]
- HSPA is the combination of both HSDPA and HSUPA.
- Dubbed as 3.5G.
- HSPA can be upgraded to Dual-Carrier, which allows user to connect to 2 cell tower at the sametime to double the speed.
- There is also Multi Carrier HSPA connection, which will enhance the speed even further than Dual Carrier.
- The upgraded version of HSPA is HSPA+.

b) HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access)
This is the improved version for downloading in 3G. Dual Carrier (DC-HSDPA) can help boost the download speed even further by connecting the mobile to 2 cell tower at the same time.

c) HSUPA (High-Speed Uplink Packet Access)
This is the improved version for uploading in 3G. Dual Carrier (DC-HSUPA) can help boost the upload speed even further by connecting the mobile to 2 cell tower at the same time.

d) HSPA+ (Evolved High-Speed Packet Access) [H+]
This is the improved version for HSPA. It delivers high download speed up to ~168Mb/s. and 22Mb/s for upload speed. This can be dubbed as 3.75G.

LTE (Long Term Evolution) [LTE]
Before proceeding to 4G, you might heard about LTE. LTE is actually NOT 4G. Carrier always like to market their LTE as 4G LTE which confuses the customer that they are using 4G. Because LTE doesn't meet the requirement speed to be called as 4G, it is referred as 3.9G or Pre-4G.

4G (4th Generation) [4G]
This is the forth and latest generation of wireless technology. Some carrier refer the LTE as 4G, although LTE speed doesn't reaches the speed that can counted as 4G. To be qualify as a 'True 4G', the download speed for stationary user must reach 1Gb/s or 100Mb/s for moving users.

LTE-A (Long Term Evolution Advanced)
This is the so called 'True 4G' as it's peak download speed reaches 1Gb/s.

5G (5th Generation)
5G is planned to be roll out on 2020 for consumer usage. Not long ago, 5G researchers had broke the record super fast speed of 1Tb/s download, which is thousand times faster than the maximum internet speed nowadays.

Older Generations
a) 0G (0th Generation, Pre Cellular)
Before cellular connection exist, a mobile radio telephone is used. Technologies available in this generation are Push-To-Talk (PTT) and Mobile Telephone Service which acts like land line. These phone are usually attached and used in cars and trucks.

b) 1G (1st Generation)
This generation uses analog to transmit data from tower to user. It is launched in Japan on 1979 by Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT) and become the first nationwide 1G network on 1984.
